but I never
is a DARING
"Passion that leaps right off the page." - Romantic Times Book Reviews on Janie Crouch
USA TODAY bestselling author Janie Crouch writes what she loves to read: passionate romantic suspense. She is a winner of multiple romance literary awards including the Golden Quill Award for Best Romantic Suspense, the National Reader’s Choice Award, and the coveted VIVIAN© Award by the Romance Writers of America.
After a lifetime on the East Coast, and a six-year stint in Germany due to her husband's job as support for the U.S. Military, Janie has settled into her dream home in Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. She loves engaging in all sorts of adventures (triathlons! 200-mile relay races! mountain treks!), traveling, and surviving life with four kids.
Her favorite quote: "Life is a daring adventure or nothing." ~ Helen Keller.
Janie has written all her life, but mostly academic pieces. She holds a B.A. in English Communication from Montreat College in Montreat, NC (near Asheville). She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Immeditely upon receiving her doctoral degree she began a job at a college in Virginia, teaching communication courses.
Canyoning in the Alps
Her fiction/fantasy geek roots go pretty far back: her doctoral dissertation focused on how people formed and maintained relationships with sci-fi/fantasy characters. In her academic writing she was often told she needed to "dial down the drama". She's glad to finally be writing something where no tells her that anymore.
In November 2011, on a dare with a friend and no real thought that anything would ever come of it, Janie paricipated in National Novel Writing Month. Her NaNoWriMo stint produced her first novel Unbreak My Heart, which...wasn't terrible. She then went on to write Primal Instinct a few months later which was bought by Harlequin Intrigue in June 2013. (Her publishing timeline can be found here on an older blog).
In Monserrat Spain
Janie kept writing as life (due to hubby's job in support of the U.S. Military) took her and her family to Germany for nearly six yeas. She loved spending her days surrounded by the wonderful people who serve in the military, and is truly grateful for their sacrifices.
In 2021, the Crouch family relocated to their dream home in the Colorado Rockies. When she's not staring out at the view of the Front Range from her deck, you can probably find Janie out doing something adventurously stupid.
What can she say? She's never been good at sitting still.
In 2018 she started Calamittie Jane Publishing to release her Linear Tactical books which went on to become a bestselling series. Her books are available world-wide, in over a half-dozen languages.
Janie would love to keep in touch and have you join her FB group, the CROUCH CREW!
