"Passion that leaps right off the page." - Romantic Times Book Reviews

USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Janie Crouch writes what she loves to read: passionate romantic suspense featuring protective heroes.  Her books have won multiple awards, including the Romance Writers of America's coveted Vivian® Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Booksellers’ Best Award for romantic suspense.

After a lifetime on the East Coast, and a six-year stint in Germany due to her husband's job as support for the U.S. Military, Janie has settled into her dream home in Front Range of the Colorado Rockies.

When she's not listening to the voices in her head—and even when she is—she enjoys engaging in all sorts of crazy adventures (Ultramarathons across Kenya; Ironman Triathlons, treks to Mt. Everest Base Camp...), traveling, and being a mom of four.

Her favorite quote: "Life is a daring adventure or nothing." ~ Helen Keller

Janie has written all her life, but mostly academic pieces. She holds a B.A. in English Communication from Montreat College in Montreat, NC (near Asheville). She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.  Immeditely upon receiving her doctoral degree she began a job at a community college in Virginia, teaching communication courses.

Her fiction/fantasy geek roots go pretty far back: her doctoral dissertation focused on how people formed and maintained relationships with sci-fi/fantasy characters. In her academic writing she was often told she needed to "dial down the drama." She's glad to finally be writing something where no tells her that anymore.

In November 2011, on a dare with a friend, with no real thought of anything ever coming of it, Janie paricipated in National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo produced her first novel Unbreak My Heart (unpublished manuscript), which wasn't great, but at least wasn't...terrible.  She then went on to write Primal Instinct a few months later which was bought by Harlequin Intrigue in June 2013. (Her publishing timeline can be found here on her Blog).

"For Rangers" Ultramarathon (2023)

From 2015-2021 Janie and her family relocated to Stuttgart, Germany as part of her husband's Department of Defense career at a U.S. Military base there.  She'll always be thankful for the time spent with U.S. Service Members and their families—they became the inspiration for many heroes and heroines in her books.

Living overseas also gave her the opportunity to partake in the many adventures she loves,  including travel, obstacle races, triathlons, 200-mile relays, and even an 11-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp (read about that here).

What can she say? She's never been good at sitting still.

In 2018, she started Calamittie Jane Publishing to release her Linear Tactical books which went on to become a bestselling series. Her books are available world-wide in multiple languages, including German, French, Italian, Swedish, and Icelandic.
