"Passion that leaps right off the page." - Romantic Times Book Reviews
USA TODAY bestselling author Janie Crouch writes what she loves to read: passionate romantic suspense. She is a winner and/or finalist of multiple romance literary awards including the Golden Quill Award for Best Romantic Suspense, the National Reader’s Choice Award, and the coveted RITA© Award by the Romance Writers of America.
Janie recently relocated with her husband and their four teenagers to Germany (due to her husband's job as support for the U.S. Military), after living in Virginia for nearly 20 years. When she's not listening to the voices in her head—and even when she is—she enjoys engaging in all sorts of crazy adventures (200-mile relay races; Ironman Triathlons, treks to Mt. Everest Base Camp) traveling, and movies of all kinds.
Her favorite quote: "Life is a daring adventure or nothing." ~ Helen Keller.
Janie has written all her life, but mostly academic pieces. She holds a B.A. in English Communication from Montreat College in Montreat, NC (near Asheville). She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Immeditely upon receiving her doctoral degree she began a job at a community college in Virginia, teaching communication courses.
Canyoning in the Alps
Her fiction/fantasy geek roots go pretty far back: her doctoral dissertation focused on how people formed and maintained relationships with sci-fi/fantasy characters. In her academic writing she was often told she needed to "dial down the drama". She's glad to finally be writing something where no tells her that anymore.
In November 2011, on a dare with a friend, with no real thought of anything ever coming of it, Janie paricipated in National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo produced her first novel Unbreak My Heart (unpublished manuscript), which wasn't terrible. She then went on to write Primal Instinct a few months later which was bought by Harlequin Intrigue in June 2013. (Her publishing timeline can be found here on her Blog).
In Monserrat Spain (2016)
In 2015 Janie relocated to Stuttgart, Germany as part of her husband's Department of Defense career at a U.S. Military base there. A big, scary 6,000 mile leap!
Living in a foreign country with her hubby and four teenagers (two boys and two girls) definitely keeps her busy. She fits as much writing as possible while they are in school (10-12 pages daily), but there never seems to be enough time! That might also be because she is always off on new adventures, including travel, obstacle races, triathlons, 200-mile relays, and even an 11-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp (read about that here).
What can she say? She's never been good at sitting still.
In 2018 she started Calamity Jane Publishing to release her Linear Tactical books which went on to become a bestselling series. Her books are available world-wide.
